Please be sure that the products I have mentioned are suitable for you.

This will be the last Weekly Specials I do for the next month or so as I am going overseas and won’t be around to do the Australian supermarket specials.

Have you see any good gluten free specials this week?

Hi, I am using the food switch/gluten switch app on iphone. This app lets you scan bar codes of products and tells you if the product is gluten free. I scanned the bar code of Smith’s Chips, guess what? It says that they contain gluten!!! Now I won’t be purchasing cadburys or Smith’s products. :(

      Hi Linda,

Thanks so much for your comment.

Were they the Original Flavour? That is the blue packet? As the Original ones are the only ones that are gluten free. I eat them all the time with no problems.

I also checked the Smith’s website and this is what it says and I quote:

“All of our plain salted potato and corn chips (including Smith’s Original Crinkle Cut, Smith’s Thinly Cut Original and Doritos Original), as well as Nobby’s Nuts, Sakata Rice Crackers, Smith’s Popped and Sunbites popcorn do not have gluten-containing ingredients.

As we are regularly review our formulations, please call our freecall number 1800 025 789 to check the availability of our other products that contain no gluten.”

      Here is the link: http://www.smiths.com.au/index.php/faq

Could you let me know if it was the blue packet you scanned please?

      Thank you.

Yes, I read that on their site too. It was the original blue packet, that I scanned. I only ever buy the original. Gluten free by ingredient, but maybe there is a chance of cross contamination at the manufacturers? Thanks

Thanks for letting me know and yes there may be that chance. I have emailed them to ask. Thanks again.
